1. The product certification bodies referred to in Article 55 shall comply with and be accredited, depending on their activities, in accordance with the following standards: (a) European standard EN ISO/IEC 17065 ‘Conformity assessment – Requirements for bodies certifying products, processes and services’, European standard EN ISO/IEC 17020 ‘Conformity assessment – Requirements for the operation of various types of bodies performing inspection’ and European standard EN ISO/IEC 17025 ‘General requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories’, including any revisions or amended versions of those standards; or (b) other suitable, internationally recognised standards. |

Accreditation referred to in paragraph 1 of this Article shall be performed by an accreditation body, recognised in accordance with Regulation (EC) No 765/2008, that is a member of the European co-operation for Accreditation, or, for third-country product certification bodies, by a recognised accreditation body outside the Union that is a member of the International Accreditation Forum (IAF) or the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC). |
